The-Link-Between-ADHD-and-Depression

Before we talk more about ADHD let’s make it clear that ADHD and ADD are actually the terms used to refer the same kind of disorder. While ADHD stands for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, ADD merely stands for Attention-Deficit Disorder. So basically, those two terms refer to the same kinds of diseases. ADHD is actually a combination of persistent problems which include inattention and hyperactivity along with impulsive behaviour. This disorder has affected millions of children around the world. Sadly, many parents do not notice this and many children with this condition are left untreated.

Since many children with ADHD also experience anxiety disorders, many people usually link ADHD and anxiety. Children who experience ADHD along with anxiety may show more various kinds of symptoms. In fact, ADHD does not cause anxiety disorders but children with ADHD tend to be more prone in experiencing anxiety disorder. The symptoms can be more problematic when those disorders happen at the same time. If children with ADHD alone always experience anything related to inattention and hyperactivity, the anxiety may cause them to feel fear without apparent cause, trouble sleeping, insomnia, and irritability.

Not only anxiety, ADHD may also come with depression. With ADHD and depression come at the same time, it can also cause a problematic condition. The same with anxiety, ADHD is not the cause of depression but it may become the triggering factor. If anxiety develops at a younger age, depression tends to appear when the children grow up. Some symptoms of depression may appear to be like the symptoms of ADHD. And both really need early treatment.

When we talk about what is actually the cause of ADHD, you will get no exact answer. Some have said that ADHD and nutrition is closely related, which is why many ADD sufferers may take some nutritional supplements and have some changes in their eating habits. Some foods are believed to cause or worsen the symptoms. And some other food may help maintain the children’s condition, including vitamin, minerals, and other nutrients.
