What is cancer? Cancer is a disease that is the result of the development of abnormal cells in the body. The name of cancer is based on the organ where the cancerous cells firstly develop. There are more than 100 types of cancer, with some of the most famous ones including breast cancer, lung cancer, cervical cancer, skin cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer, and lymphoma. The symptoms of each cancer can be different, but some of the general symptoms include fatigue, lump under the skin, skin thickening, bleeding, and bruising.

Cancerous cells firstly develop in a certain organ in the body. When it gets severe or when the stage is moving higher, the cancer spreads to another part of the body, which is known as cancer metastasis. When cancer has spread from its original place to another area, it is called advanced (or locally advanced when it only spreads to nearby tissue). The most common areas of spread of metastasis include lung, liver, lymph nodes, and bones. When the cancer has spread to a new location, the cancer is still name with the organ it firstly develops from.

Though cancer can happen in any age, people who are 65 or older have higher risk of cancer.
